Settled today releases ‘Settled Not Secure’, our new report on the needs and concerns of EU citizens living in the UK.

Under the terms of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement 2019, EU citizens that were resident in the UK before 31 December 2020 could retain their rights in the UK post-Brexit. This was not an automatic transfer of rights, instead EU citizens needed to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.

For almost three years, Settled has been the only charity focused on reaching and assisting the most vulnerable EU citizens, so that as many people as possible secure their rights to, amongst others; housing, healthcare, education and the right to remain in the UK.

This report, produced by surveying EU citizens in the UK, highlights there are several deep underlying concerns for EU citizens regarding the security of their rights under the EU Settlement Scheme.

Settled Not Secure reaffirms the vital need for an OISC-accredited advice service for EU citizens in the UK long term, and teaches us where Settled must focus its resources in the future.

Settled Not Secure also provides recommendations to the Home Office on how it should act upon the wide-ranging concerns expressed by EU citizens.
